One wedding and a rugby match

Somebody (I cant remember who) has posted this week that most bloggers seem to update their blogs on Mondays. I think I must be the one that goes against this rule. In fact I find it very hard to blog on mondays because I am still collecting my thoughts about the weekend, and normally wishing it still was the weekend. You see, I believe in having fun on the weekend, and I normally do. Monday is not just a back-to-work-day for me, but the end of a little holiday. And this weekend, my closest friend got married.

Rhiannon's Wedding

It was on friday that she got married, so this weekend was also a longer one. I was an Usher (She did say that if I had been female, I would have been her bridesmaid, but I am not) for the wedding, and I was the only Usher that really knew what was to be done. So, I had a busy day.

The wedding itself was perfect, and nothing at all went wrong. I am glad that this is true, because if something had gone wrong, it would have probably been mine fault. I only wish that I had some photographs I could share with you, but being an Usher I didn't really have much time to take any good ones. When I get some off my friends I will post them here. If Rhiannon doesn't mind.

The Bride - Rhiannon, looked absolutely amazing. She was the perfect bride, as I am sure Richard - the groom - will agree.

The day as a whole was very busy, with the ceremony starting at 12:30 PM and the the after noon reception at 3:30PM after photographs at a local castle, then an evening reception, with a band and food at 7:30PM. Things didn't wind down until 2:00 AM. The weather remained beautiful, and I am sure they will get some beautiful photographs thanks to that. Every one had a nice time, and no body seemed bored, even during the speeches.

Yes, it was a long day, and a perfect one. Well, near perfect for the brides mother and sister.

After everything had died down, by about 2:30 AM, the family and some friends settled down for a quiet drink, to wind down. The brides father (Keith) was the first to give up, and go to bed. I wasn't actually there for this, but I don't think it was too long until the brides mother (Kim) decided to follow, with the brides sister (Angharad). Keith had taken the key with him to get into their room, and the plan was that the girl would knock to get him to let them in.

The plan didn't count on Keith falling into the deepest sleep he has ever fallen into, and perhaps ever will again.

They stood, knocking on the door for near half an hour (keep in mind it is about 3:00 AM now), and still Keith showed no signs of waking. There are rumors that Kim even tried to shoulder barge the door, this being a good measure of how much she drank. Eventually the girls decided to get the hotel staff to open the door, but no, Keith had put the latch on (Keith always had had a fetish for security. The end result was Luke (Angharad's Boyfriend) climbing up to the window of the room with a ladder, to let the girls in from the inside at about 3:30 AM. They had to be up for breakfast by 9:30 AM. Just a little hiccup. But still it was a perfect day.

The comedown

After such a great day, it would be quite natural to have a few days of comedown afterwards. The anticlimax feeling that the best part of the weekend is over. We did have a quieter day on Saturday, but I enjoyed myself. I stayed at a friends (Ceri - graphic designer extraordinaire) house after the wedding instead of staying at the hotel, and we organised to hand out with the lads the next day. We spent a bit of time sorting out suits for an up and coming ball that is happening soon, and then spent the rest of the day playing Halo, and some other healthier activities such as football, rugby, and, erm, pool. Well maybe pool doesn't stretch the muscles that much. but hey, I'm sure i burnt something off just by loosing so badly. As it turns out, I suck very badly at halo also. I think I will be buying an x-box soon so that I can practice.

On sunday I had a pretty lazy day. Apart from going to watch the Scarlets beat the Ospreys in rugby (I am not sure if I wanted the Scarlets to win yet), all I can seem to remember is watching The Last Samaria, and getting an early night. But the rugby match was great, and the atmosphere at the match was cool as always. Mind you, there was this guy standing in front of us (a scarlets supporter) that was taking things a little too serious. He went from a normal shade of white to a very deep red within the last 20 minutes of the game, when the Ospreys almost came back to win the match. Almost. Then when the whistle was blown he turned to the Ospreys fans and spoke many a rude word. No need for that Sir! Despite the fact that it is rude, uncalled for, and stupid, it is a family event and I want to be able to take my little brother to such events like it when he is old enough. People like that you sirmight just make me reconsider. What an idiot you are.

But I wont let one idiot spoil a perfect weekend, with good company, and good friends. It is moments like last friday's wedding that I will fondly remember when I am older.

Sounds like a good weekend. I love weddings, even though I play enough of them that I should hate them by now. Of course, I've never actually been _in_ a friend's wedding, I just play the piano...
